I hate editing that kind of stuff. I'm always thinking, "why didn't I write more interesting sentenses the first time around?!"

I'd try it. Some people can do both, and even find it easier sometimes. I know I'm editing/writing a screenplay and my novel. I switch back and forth, not usualy doing both of them on the same day. So give it a try, you might surprise yourself.
