2 years ago 0 + -It looks like it might make a "darker" tea. More tannins perhaps?

2 years ago 0 + -We will get to the bottom of this, for STeaPle everywhere! (I'm totally stealing STeaPle, by the way)
masto
2 years ago 0 + -I leave it to you to do the experiments. I'm just here to inject confusion.

2 years ago 0 + -Do you use hot or cold water to prepare your icetea? A friend of mine, who owns a bar, told me that using cold water and letting steep one whole night gives good results. I didn't try yet.

2 years ago 0 + -I use a machine which boils the water.

2 years ago 0 + -Is it possible that there is two types of cloudyness. One that is bacteria based and one that is "dust" (for lack of a better word) based. Good research
FirstClown
2 years ago 0 + -While bacteria can grow in tea, it is very rare to have it happen if the tea is properly made (hot water and refrigerated after cooling). There is a risk of having this happen with "sun" tea, but it should take months for this to happen in regularly steeped, non-sweetened ice tea.

So most of what you see in iced tea is going to be of the "dust" kind. I'm pretty sure that the dust is the tannins that could up the tea. Adding a little hot water is said to clear it up, but I have not tried that yet.
