About This Video
http://www.EmploymentCrossing.com The green tractor company is moving itself out of Canada. John Deere, the worlds largest maker of farm machinery is closing its operations at its Welland, Ontario plant. Deere and Company produces its Gator utility vehicles and attachments for agricultural equipment at the facility in Canada. The company is citing the high price of steel, freight, and fuel, as factors that, combined with a strong Canadian dollar, work against the operation. In a move that was sudden, and a bit of a shock to the area, Deere will be moving 800 jobs out of Canada, and bring work to its Wisconsin and Mexico plants. John Deere has seen an increase in demand for equipment these days, especially with an increase in consumption and investments in biofuels. In the move out of Canada, the company will take a $90 million dollar after-tax hit. But the company is looking at the bigger picture in efforts to improve efficiency and productivity.
