no, you downloaded the base portion of the update, which doesn't include all the extra functionality that you get when you're on xbox live, such as avatars, etc... the second download is what gets all the extra cool stuff...

That's pretty much the entire update, minus the avatar creation step. The download and install times have been compressed. No you cannot remove NXE after it is installed.

actually, at this point, you will have to make an avatar. since this profile already has one, it goes straight to the welcome screen.

That requires a hardware fault. In this case it would be a software problem. So it would just freeze.

You need a real ISP. Complete install of NXE took me about 4 minutes.

how do you know if Microsoft is prepared or not. They were not prepared last xmas. Also my xbl connection kept failing just the other day which Larry made a blog post about how "the problem is being investigated" for the most part xbl is great but I don't know if they are preparted. We will see on the 18th
