Viddler

i only watch videos from links on twitter or emails from people i subscribe to but i still like watching the vids of friends on viddler youtube has videos of everything and is worth millions of course it will work and run better.i watch both sites for differnt things its up to you.

There is something really important about Viddler. I thing Viddler is for people. People like you and me. There is no community, no business, no celebrities, no sponsor without us. Therefore I think you should stay. Did You Ever Wonder Why?. Well two reasons:

1) You make the difference.... Yes you! ... for your honesty.
2) Viddler is a Free community, not only a company to produce money. Of course "we all need money" but the concept is to BUILD a community of people doing something different and Special. So We need to show them "What we want" as Users. So Please don't go :) , do more videos, Build your Own New friends ( More Friends), build your own concept and I'm sure you will make something really "Giddy" LOL . :).

But hey you gotta admit, Viddler only has one skank compared to YouTube having like, 23409823! And I'm totally working on not being such a slut so I can bring that Viddler # back down to 0 ;)

Glad to hear your voicing your opinion on Viddler. We are definitely working to take measure to keep Viddler community oriented but keep in mind when developing any website there are three things that any site must focus on.

Community, Commerce, and Content.

Community = we undoubtly started here and focused on this from day 1 with timed comments and tags (remember the play button on the left of the player). Has this slowed down a bit from our side as not our only focus? Yes, reasons coming.

Commerce = we have to make money to keep this site up. We are not google and cannot afford to pay for video (it's expensive) without having a business plan in place.

Content = only high quality videos can really be monetized in the advertising space. so we have been focusing on raising the amount of high quality distribution on viddler while growing community features as well.

We are 10 people right now and have a distributed focus that sometimes isn't perfect to everyone all the time. If our focus was only community we would have no money to keep viddler running. If our focus is only content, we don't have a community to connect with that. If it's only commerce, we are an e-commerce site.

Has things gotten a little youtube'esque? In some area's I would agree, the interfaces have some likeness. But there is a standards out there that no one breaks. Every video player is on 95% of all video sites is on the left. Should we have ours on the left? Maybe it's important to do so because people are used to that. We learn from the best and try to be better. Are we satisfied with anything on the site? Nevesr. We trive to be the best.

What's next out of Viddler on the community side of things?
- Better Frontpage - we are thinking of allowing anyone to feature a video and that appearing on frontpage. Also a focus on friends on frontpage.
- Better Dashboard - driven to satisfy users to watch video
- Better Profiles - list view of recent videos you can sort by popularity and most viewed.
- Intro Videos - a section of viddler that is all intro videos from people that recently sign up

What else?

We will never stop fighting to make this a better site for the community and we personally appreciate everyone that sticks with us.
