Bah I hate that saying, "Write what you know". If that were the case, 90% of the books written wouldn't be on shelves. Murder mysteries could only be written by murderers, sci-fi could only be written by astronauts of alien abductees, and god forbid, gay romance could only be written by people who've had gay sex. No way. Write what you LOVE, not what you know.
