Dad Center '09

Join Lanikai women's first crew for the Dad Center race, 23 Aug, 2009. The 25-mile course started at Kailua Beach and finished at the Outrigger Canoe Club in Waikiki. This footage was shot by various paddlers riding on the escort boat. Unfortunately, we don't have any footage from the start, or anything after the middle of Maunalua Bay... Enjoy the ride. Team Bradley won with a time of 3:17:36. Lanikai's first crew came in 14th.

Afternoon Sail

Join Eric, Dan, Roxy and Kai for an afternoon sail on the Holole'a. I got a sailing rig and polas set up for my Opelu OC-4, and she is a blast to sail. Thursday, 2 July, was a beautiful day, and Holole'a took us on a short cruise through Lanikai and Kailua. Enjoy.

Sailing Rig works!

Help I'm a Fish

We went to to visit Nancy and Dave at their Waikiki resort on Saturday. We being Kai and me, as Stace was at canoe practice. Nanc and Dave were staying at the Waikiki Sheraton, and it has an AWESOME pool (Stace and I read about it in the papers and saw it on the news when it first opened). It has a waterfall and water slides, and it's salt water, so NO CHLORINE! Kai has been out of the water for a couple weeks recovering from her pneumonia, so she was primed and ready to go swimming. And swimming she went! She was the fishiest fish EVER! Stace told her she couldn't get her face wet because she was still getting over her pneumonia... So, the first thing she did was ask if she could go under water. From there she asked to swim to Nancy. Then she swam to Dave. She swam to daddy, she swam to the steps. She swam everywhere!

This is the first time taking the GoPro out on the SUP... Perfect, glassy day in Kailua. Well, almost perfect. We could have used some surf... There was a very small bump from the ENE, so there is at least a little to see. Ever wonder what happens to the stuff you lose surfing or paddling? Check out the end of the video to see...

OC-4 at the Mokes

OC-4 Surfin'! Join in the fun as Mike takes Derek, Stacey and Eric out for a few waves at the Mokes. This was my first ride in an OC-4, and now I NEED one! That thing is FUN!

Barney Boat Surf

Join Stacey for a little trip on the "Barney" boat, nicknamed due to it's purple manu (endpieces) and mo'o (gunwales). Push off Lani Kai beach with Mike at the helm, and ride along for an OC-6 surf at the Mokes. The video only shows one wave, but they were surfing for over an hour before the end. We won't get into what happened there, as that is another story... Enjoy the ride.

Pau Hana

My first movie. It is called Pau Hana, because it was filmed on a Friday following an early dismissal from work (Aloha Friday). I start with my Pueo OC-1 at Kalama Beach Park in Kailua and go to Flat Island, where I catch a small wave. I then go to Lani Kai and run into Kaile who is playing with Mommy and Auntie Rox. I take her for a short spin, and then head out to the Mokes. From the Mokes I go back to Kalama, wash the boat and take it home. "It's good to get off work early". The music is Kaimoku, "Honolulu Shuffle".

Kaile Goes to Flat Island

Kaile paddles my Pueo OC-1 on Kaelepulu Canal to the beach in Kailua. She then rides on back out to Flat Island, catches a wave, and then goes to "her" cave. She really loves to paddle with Daddy. The music is Israel Kamakawiwa'ole, Somewhere Over the Rainbow / What a Wonderful World.
