After the introduction to the more practical aspects of law and the metaverse, the alternative metaverse idea begins at about 2:20

2 years ago 0 + -Did you see Law and Order SVU last night? They did a story where someone who had a avatar in "Another Youniverse" (Um, basically SL) was kidnapped/killed by someone who was stalking her on there.
I have no comment about the social comment they were trying to make, but it was hilarious to watch the writers try to deal with the topic, resulting in prohibitively expository dialogue. I feel like the whole episode was like waaaay late to the whole "online universe" party. Like, okay guys, I think we know you're pointing the finger at SL and you don't have to bog us down with the "intricacies" of the whole process.
Anyhoo, made me think of it because the tracked down a killer through his Avatar. In your scenario, that wouldn't be possible. But it also wouldn't have been possible for him to track the girl he killed (who he met first online).
Ah! Conversations like this make me want to go to law school. The legal ramifications of all these shifts in digital autonomy are so INTERESTING.

I think that even with an autonomous metaverse there still would be a location based metaverse - and it would be interesting how the crossing over between the two would be traced. Hiding information is hard.
I totally understand what you mean about law school. Every once in a while I think of going to Law School. There are so many fascinating aspects to law.
