A LOW-E energy saving window film tested by Vancouver inventors club. Members' opinion: Is not a true low-emissivity film.
film contains tiny silver molecules sputtered (a "sputtering spray machine" is used for Low-E film making) into a surface, which appears to be mylar. According to experts, Low-E film, for Vancouver area, reduces heating costs by 15%-18% if applied to all windows. Energy-saving. Saves you money. There is a slight silvery tint. Reduces condensation considerably. With the increasing cost of energy (about 40% of which is for space heating our homes) every year, it makes sense to further insulate windows. The effect of Low-E window film is to bounce or reflect heat on windows. So, in winter, your rooms stay warmer; and, in summer, the heat stays out.
This film is *very* difficult to apply, and requires a liquid solution, which is not sold by Home Depot or anywhere locally. The liquid solution is not mentioned in the packaging or by Home Depot.
