8 months ago 0 + -I don't think Eragon counts because it's an exception. Chris's parents promoted and sold his book as a full-time job, with full-time money behind it. They turned making their son's book a bestseller into their only job. That's not something 99.9% of self-published authors do or can do.

He got published bigtime because of dumb luck. The guy he arm-wrestled was the nephew of the guy who runs Alfred Knoph books, so... Yeah. That's dumb luck for ya. :P
