Tried the same test on my iPhone 3g with the video and my iPhone 3g beat both. Maybe it depends on location. I live in a suburb of Vancouver British Columbia Canada using the Rogers Wireless Network.

Lots of things can determine the speed, I read somewhere that the iPhone is speed limited to reserve it's battery though, which may be further reason to its current slowness - until they make better batteries that is...

Yes, his iPhone is clearly Jailbroken. It's a dead giveaway with the general look & feel of the keyboard. This goes without saying anything about the icons in the top right-hand corner which are clearly not native.

REMEMBER: Safari has always taken the approach of actually receiving data before it displays it while other browsers tend to display as they receive the data.
