totally off-topic, but the fact that you have a stuffed-full bookshelf behind you makes me happy. Yay for books!

and that's not the only one! our whole home office is full to the brim with books. the shelf behind me is "my" shelf, where i keep most of the fiction, plus old drafts of the novel, which take up the entire bottom shelf.

That's awesome! I will admit, I spent a fair amount of time trying to see the titles on teh shelf. Some people are nosy about medicine cabinets, I'm nosy about bookshelves. :)

if you're curious about what's on the bookshelf, check out: http://www.clarkwoods.com/chris/more/365_pictures_339_of_365/

Don't give up. If you are going through hell, the only thing you can do to come through it is keep walking.

Just think of it as practice. Now, you can shop the 50 pages around to other agents.

Well, I was about to begin a pretty massive re-write when I talked to the guy. I'm probably going to continue on with that. So, we'll see if those fifty pages stay the same. My guess is that they'll change somewhat drastically.

I agree. Rejection blows, but it's all just stepping stones to the next opportunity. I searched high and low for work. Now the place I found as a 1 year stopover is working their butt off to keep me long term. You never know what's next. I'm thinking of you!

very impressive. I probably would've turned into a puddle of ooze

yeah, well, dem's da breaks, as they say. there are other agents out there, and eventually i'll find the right match for my novel.

I wish you the best of luck with your novel. I also just wanna congratulate you for having the guts to go sell yourself to the agent. I know I would make a mess of things if i tried something like that :)

thanks. it's a bummer, sure. but i'll get over it and move on. that's what you have to do if you're serious about publishing.
