The ancient Roman acqueducts.
This park of Rome (Parco di tor fiscale) contains the "Acquedotto Felice" and the "Claudian Acqueduct". Named after Pope Felice and Emperor Claudius. The park is located some 10 km outside the center of Rome in the direction of the Castelli Romani (the hills where the water originally came from.)
The Claudian acqueduct is the best remaining example of an above ground Roman acqueduct in Rome Italy, unfortunately it is no longer in operation. However, incredibly, there is still one acqueduct that remains in operation from the ancient Roman times, the Virgo acqueduct. This acqueduct supplies the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona and Piazza di Spagna with water!
