St. John Lateran is the oldest Basilica of the western world, built in 314 by Costantino. Since then, the Cathedral has suffered many damages due to fires, earthquakes and lootings.
After each catastrophe it was rebuilt with the aim to preserve its original glory. The main facade that we can admire today was built in 1736 by Alessandro Galilei.
