Santa Maria dei Miracoli and Santa Maria in Montesanto are the twin churches of Piazza del Popolo,
Rome Italy, they are in fact not identical. The dome of the Santa Maria in Montesanto (on the left)
is oval and not circular like that of Santa Maria dei Miracoli.
The road which divides the twin churches, Via del Corso, runs all the way from Piazza del Popolo to Piazza Venezia at Capitoline Hill.
The name "Corso" refers to the horse races held on this road until the end of the 19th Century.
