Damn...my last comment didn't save. In short, I agree that companies should do a better job in preparing for times like these but layoffs are inevitable. What I have a problem with is the politics that goes on behind the scenes in deciding who goes and who stays. I saw it first hand with this company. Office politics, sucks!

layoffs really do stink. i've luckily never been laid off completely. I've had my position eliminated before, but was still able to stay with the company. and I know Edwin will bounce back. I've know a few friends that have been able to bounce back to even greater things after a layoff. sometimes it becomes a good thing to spur you to achieve higher goals.

It does suck! My Mom is facing losing her pension when the auto plant she has worked at for years, closes. Everyweek they are letting people go. She is hoping to hang in until Feb. in order to get her pension.

That has got to be a source of anxiety. I hope she gets to Feb without incident. I am doing something about it so I'm not in that scanario. I'll pray for her.
