Today the NSW Rural Fire Service conducted hazard reduction fires in many areas of Sydney. This will occur until the 17th of September, 2009.
If you live in NSW, it's mandatory to make sure your home is hazard-free. This means cleaning gutters, putting leaf litter and dry/dead plants in vegetation bins, knowing when to stay or leave.
For more information read the Bush Fire Survival Guide (PDF) provided by the NSW RFS.
