Kevin Rose annouced that Copy + Paste functionality WILL be available in iPhone OS 3.0 - to be released on March 17th, 2009.
iPhone Software 3.0 will also have all the features that the Palm Pre has that made it more attractive than the iPhone.
This was announced on Diggnation #194 recorded LIVE at Stubbs in Austin, Texas, during SxSW Interactive 2009.

10 months ago 0 + -I'm pretty sure background apps would drain the battery even quicker than without them. Ever since the last iPhone OS update my battery hasn't been lasting a whole day like it used to!
I hope the v3.0 software fixes that issue too!
