I used one of those once, wasn't crazy about them. I would rather just use a canon powershot than one of those.

I agree with Clintus. The Flip doesn't take photos; a regular point-and-shoot camera that has a video option would be just as good as a Flip, albeit slightly more expensive.

I got the Panasonic DMC-TZ5 (my video: http://www.viddler.com/explore/djsteen/videos/587/) and it does pretty rockin HD 720p video; pwns the Flip!
