I think that's the reason why everyone loves/uses Twitter; it's a barebones product.

Sites such as Jaiku or Pownce are more discussion orientated. I like that. But I don't use them as much as Twitter.

I would like to test out Pownce for this exact purpose. I hear that there is no SMS or RSS support though.
