About This Video
Ecuador is a country with natural beauty but few job opportunities, and high levels of poverty. One industry that can create thousands of jobs is mining. But this industry is under attack from internationally-funded environmental NGOs with local chapters. These NGOs are opposed to Ecuadors development and successfully influenced the Constitutional Assembly to issue a mining mandate, which has halted large-scale mining operations since April 2008.
