According to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, Wisconsins Milwaukee metropolitan areas unemployment rate declined in July, as compared to both June and July 2007.
The unemployment rate for July is 5.2 percent and in June it was 5.3 percent. Last July, the unemployment rate was up at 5.4 percent.
Job totals also declined, with the area losing 3,700 jobs since last July and 7,700 jobs since last month.
.The region was one of nine Wisconsin metro areas, out of 12, to experience a decline from a month ago.
Wisconsins overall unemployment rate for July is 4.8 percent, outperforming the national unemployment rate at 6 percent.
