Spreading it around. Popularity is transferable from community to community, as long as a reasonable portion of your contacts are in both communities. I outlinked (LinkedIn) Chris Tingom by leveraging my popularity on Twitter.com

2 years ago 0 + -I know this is off topic...but is it me or is LinkedIn a little useless?

2 years ago 0 + -No, it just depends on what you use it for. I went to a conference that devoted two entire sessions to the benefits of LinkedIn, and there are a bunch, but the trade off is to get them you have to invest a lot of time on the site.

2 years ago 0 + -Haha, a video about my LinkedIn profile. I don't think it gets much better than that!!
So just to be perfectly clear, I know ALL of the people on my LinkedIn profile. You don't. So does that mean you are really "in"????

2 years ago 0 + -Tom, I'm going to tell Chris you posted a comment using his profile ;-)
It's a networking site. I'm using it to build connections I wouldn't otherwise have. LinkedIn is great for making new, valuable contacts. What's the point of it if you don't step outside your circle of friends?

2 years ago 0 + -Are you going to use your powers on facebook perhaps?
brianshaler (1:25)
2 years ago 0 + -Well, a few minutes after we noticed that Chris was more popular than me on LinkedIn, we checked Facebook and he had beaten me there again. I think that should answer your question ;-) [When the time is right...]

2 years ago 0 + -I think brian's now going to go to myspace, I told him not to do it... it would tarnish his "reputation".. we'll see if he listens.

2 years ago 0 + -I don't think it was good that you passed me. But it wasn't evil. It was somewhere in between!!! :-)

2 years ago 0 + -So many people don't "get" linkedin. I mostly undertand it, but not all the way. Also if I get it, but the people in my network don't use it, maybe that's the problem? Are there any blog or web posts that talk more in depth on this?
