Open "AppleScript Utility" (in /Applications/AppleScript/).

Check "Show Script Menu in menu bar" and configure to suit.

Create a "Scripts" folder in your ~/Library folder (if there is not one already).

Observe that scripts in ~/Library/Scripts/ are available in any program.

Create an "Applications" subfolder for application-specific scripts.

Create a "Finder" application subfolder for scripts specific to the Finder application.

Install a script intended for the Finder in ~/Library/Scripts/Applications/Finder/.

Application-specific scripts do not appear in the Script Menu when other applications are active.
