Wow... that's a pretty big color change... seems like it's more than just cloudy!

I think that's the same old myth. Alton probably just Googled it himself and repeated it. As you've demonstrated, cloudiness is not caused by cooling. I make my iced tea with a machine that drips the boiling tea directly onto ice, yet whether it's cloudy or clear is determined entirely by which tea I use. The tea's "quality" does not seem to be a factor, but rather some quality of the tea causes the cloudiness. I don't think it's as simple as whether the tea is dusty, though that may contribute by way of condensation nuclei or something.

I just watched the preceding video and I see you were making Christmas tea. I suspect all those other ingredients contribute to cloudiness. Michelle tried to make some lavender Earl Grey iced tea recently and it was very cloudy. Hmm. I actually have a new theory that I need to test.
