I think we should write a procedure. Yes, it sounds so corporate and stodgy, but for those who learn by reading, which is a lot of people, it can be great to have a single, well organized document that tells you how to do something. I am thinking of an organized narrative, spelling out the major steps with as much detail as we have, or that is generally applicable. Clearly, situations will vary, but there are some points that seem central: Build the community first; communicate the financial and collaborative commitment upfront and clearly; recognize that co-working is not for everyone; keep building the community after you get started; state what the co-working space is NOT; be realistic but never lose the vision; make it clear who is in charge and what the rules are; keep building the community after the initial success; choose a location that provides the best situation for the largest number of people possible; keep on building that community and have fun! Sound ok?
