UKRINFORM HOSTS PRESENTATION OF BOOK ABOUT UKRAINIAN PEACEKEEPERSKYIV, January 28 /UKRINFORM/. The Ukrainian National News Agency UKRINFORM has hosted a presentation of a novel by Captain of the 1st rank of the Navy, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Sevastopol-based "Fleet of Ukraine" newspaper Albiy Shudria entitled "Albiy Back". The book's plot is based on the author's personal experiences and recounts the events of the Black Sea Fleet's division, those taking place during the war in Kosovo (former Yugoslavia), as well as the activities of UN peacekeepers during the conflict in Abkhazia and the Ukrainian Fleet's participation in international exercise against the background of anti-NATO demonstrations organized by pro-Russian organizations in Crimea. The book is a sort of cultural revolution, the author said during the presentation, pointing out that it was written in the Ukrainian language by someone living in Russian-speaking Sevastopol, while its content is not just pro-Ukrainian, it's explicitly pro-Western."I wanted to make the reader understand a number of important things. The book is neither pro-NATO nor against it; it just gives you a chance to look at many things without the restrictions of diplomatic protocol. This novel is not only about peacekeeping missions but an attempt at reflection on the place of Ukrainians in the world," Mr. Shudria said. The book's print run is 1,000 copies and it is on sale in Sevastopol, Kyiv, Lviv, and Dnipropetrovsk as well as via the Internet.
