Over the weekend I was checking out Parade's annual What People Earn column, and as usual, it sparked a bit of emotion in me. First, there are the ultra-wealthy entertainers, which we all know make the big bucks. Then there are the CEOs and surgeons, which again we know they make rather comfortable incomes. And then there is everyone else. This is what I find fascinating! It is the preschool teacher that makes $15,000/year that makes me frustrated and the billiards player that makes $650k that makes me say WOW. But how true our these numbers and what do they mean? I don't think we really know. It is all about context, right? Someone making $30k in Montana may be living very comfortably, but they may be living in poverty in San Jose, California. And what about the internet marketer? This was missing from the list (disappointingly). But how would they really measure that, anyway? People in this industry claim some pretty outrageous numbers. Some do achieve these earnings, while others are just exaggerating the sales (which is two big differences). At the end, it really doesn't matter where you live or what you make, as long as you live the lifestyle that makes you happy (and no-one can put a value or a salary on what happiness is worth!).
