Heck yeah for type-writers! I wanted to buy one from the antique store but I was cheap.

See, that's why you got to find one abandoned on the side of the road like I did ^_^

Oh yes... my mom had one (it broke sadly) and it's certainly something to get used to.

Good luck! NaNo is always about trying new things (and seemingly crazy things); keep the spirit alive!

Thanks! NaNo just wouldn't be half as fun if it wasn't for the crazy aspect, now would it ^_^

I love Rent, so very much. Last march I got to see a production of it with my sis (up until then I had only seen the movie, even though I had been dying to see the play for years before the movie came out) and it was so much fun and I loved it.

Have fun counting your words! LOL! I handwrote one of my nano novels. and counting every single word.

You counted every word??? that's crazy. I was planning on just counting all the words on, like, five pages and then averaging it out per page or something. It's either that, or bring the pages to class to count during lectures. Actually, that's not half a bad idea...

Actually with the typewriter, you could scan the pages into the computer and run an OCR program on it to get the text. That should work perfectly to get your word count, no?

I didn't even think about using an OCR program for some reason. Maybe cause I've never had a need for one before ^_^

Thanks for the idea! I'm totally gonna go download a program now

I love that idea--evoking the spirits. The sound of the keyboard is cool too!

That's cool!... But how do you plan to upload your novel for the final word count, etc? Will you scan all the pages in?

I haven't decided yet. I'm either going to scan all the pages in and then use an OCR program to turn it into text, or I'll just count the words in ten pages or so, average it out and then figure out overall word count that way. If I do that, then I can just create a word doc, type, like, a hundred words and just copy/paste until I have the same amount of words and then just submit that.

It's amazing what great things people throw out!

I love that classic typewriter sound! But then, I love old LP records, with the hissy staticy sound, so that might be just me.,...

Anyone else who appreciates the SOUND of a typewriter but either can't get hold of - or doesn't want the real thing - can download a small program for PC that adds typewriter sounds to your pc keyboard typing. I USE IT!! Check it out here: http://www.colorpilot.com/home-typist.html .Takes me back to the good old days when I started writing with a typewriter (pre-pcs and wordprocessors. Yes, I'm 40 now!) ;-) Chris

I saw Across the Universe last week, and the soundtrack is literally the only thing I have listened to since.

That's a fine piece of German engineering, there.
