To stop binge eating you must first stop emotional eating. Emotional eating is simply eating for comfort, to deal with stress or out of boredom. Emotional eating is very common among overeaters and binge eaters.
Journaling is a great tool to stop binge eating. Binge eating is often a result of emotional eating, or eating to deal with stress or out of boredom. Journaling about your feeling and thoughts is a great way to stop emotional eating.
Journaling will help you psycho analyze yourself. It will help you become aware of negative thought patterns and your emotional eating patterns. Just take 10-15 minutes today and journal. You’ll be able to relate to what I’m saying.
Another way to stop emotional eating is to do the stress exercise. Take out a sheet of paper and a pen. Write out every stress, worry, fear, circumstance, event, person right now on your mind. Try to make a list of 15 items.
When you finish making your list cross out each item on there that’s outside of your personal boundary, and things that you can’t control. You’ll find that you’ll cross out most of the items on the list. This is because we often worry and get stressed out about things we can’t control.
To stop binge eating you must eliminate all that unnecessary stress. This exercise is a great way to do it. Once you are done crossing out, you’ll find there are a few items on the list that you can control.
Pick the two most important items and come up with 3 action steps underneath each that you can do in the next 24-48 hours. Taking action is a great way to relief stress and stop binge eating.
