1 year ago +1 + -I didn't even get a fucking restore disk, I had to make my own resotre disks through vista, What bullshit.
Emeek77 (0:45)
1 year ago 0 + -you are so right dude.
z0rr
1 year ago +1 + -Right on about that restore disc bullshit. Generally you should burn that right away so you can just delete it from the machine. Windows used to be included with ever pc (an actual disc) and its a shame it isn't anymore.
Microsoft's focus on games for windows is pretty much waning since they gave ensemble studios the axe. To me they seem to give pc gamers lip service and focus on the xbox 360 much more.
Also, if you bought a mac and wanted to play pc only games you'd still have to pay for xp or vista to LEGALLY use it in bootcamp. I'm not saying you should, just saying to stay legal you would have to.
Emeek77
1 year ago +1 + -well of course if you wanted to use windows on a mac youd have to buy it.
PCessna
1 year ago +1 + -Windows Vista is worth like what? 30 bucks? Why should home premium cost more then 80 bucks? Microsoft is just a money sucker. And office? That's the biggest joke! Office is worth like 80-100 bucks for ultimate too :|

1 year ago 0 + -You don't get a copy of OSX with a Mac, you get the grey restore disks, which are not the same.
musicalm... (0:34)
1 year ago 0 + -Zenn3k, thats funny, because I did got a mac OSX CD. Therefore I must conclude that you are a dumbass who doesn't know what the fuck he is talking about. Please shut the fuck up!
Zenn3k (0:34)
1 year ago 0 + -Really? Cause I'm betting you got 2 grey system restore disks. Those disks do have the OS on them, but you cannot use them to install OSX on any other model other than the one it was designed to work on. I'm an Apple Tech ya moron, I know this stuff, you obviously do not.
Chadfish (0:34)
1 year ago +1 + -Hey Zenn3k
I got 2 OSX discs with my Mac Pro. Yes they say Mac Pro on them. Are you saying I can't install them on a G5? Oh well - if I own a G5 it came with it's own disc. Regardless if my OSX disc is optimized for a Mac Pro, we still get an OSX disc with every Mac like Eric said.
And if your really an Apple Tech you should be more classy about how you treat people (by not calling them morons), even if they aren't acting too classy to you.
Zenn3k (0:34)
1 year ago 0 + -Chad - Yes, that is correct, you cannot install on your G5, and likewise with your G5 disks on your Mac Pro. Even beyond that, you can't use the install disks from a 8x Mac Pro on the earlier 4x model either, even though they are both Mac Pros. They are very much like the windows restore disks you get with a new PC. When someone who has no idea what he is talking about tells me to "shut the fuck up", they require nor deserve any class. I'm correcting an error with my original comment, nothing more.
musicalm... (0:34)
1 year ago 0 + -Zenn3k, first of all, your argument "They will only work on my mac" is an appeal to ignorance because since I only own one mac, I have no way to test this theory. You could be (and probably are) talking out of your ass for all I know.
I will say this. I own an iMac 20" inch. The disks I got say "For Mac Computers, Mac OS X Install Disc [1, 2]" It doesn't say For iMacs, it says "For Mac Computers" as in ALL Mac computers. Your claims are already on shaky ground.
Speaking of shaky claims, neither me, emeek77, nor a good portion of his subscribers believe you are an Apple technician, So what we would like you to do is give us some proof.
Zenn3k (0:34)
1 year ago 0 + -You are incorrect mike. Go right on ahead and attempt to install OSX from that disk on anything that is not your model of iMac. Go try an Macbook, or a Pro, or any machine that is NOT your model of Mac and I promise you, without any shred of doubt, it will NOT work.
You can believe what you'd like, I've shown my certs via website, I have videos of a few repairs. What proof would you like? I can show you my actual paper certs if you like, but my name will be hidden because I do not give it out. Emeek knows I am what I say I am by now, and frankly, the YouTube Mac community recognizes me as such, so your opinion and what you believe to be the opinions of others does not matter in the slightest.
Getting back to the install point, if you like, I'll make a video, just for your arrogant ass showing how it doesn't work, with multiple examples, I bet if I search around the shop I can even find one that says "For mac computers" on it. You are wrong, get over yourself.
niceveritt (0:34)
1 year ago 0 + -The OS X DVD's are system specific. They are however full system install disks regardless of this. By law you should only be installing a copy of OS X on one mac (except for the family pack), so unless you are a thief you should have no objection to this anyway.
musicalm... (0:34)
1 year ago 0 + -Zenn3k, again, I only have one mac at my disposal so I can't try it out. Paper certs will work just fine because I am assuming nobody is going to lend you their certs for some internet feud. If you want to make a video proving the disks won't work, fine, as long as you can guarantee me you are using the exact same disks I have and don't have any snake oil.
As for my arrogant attitude, its the internet dude, chill out!
Zenn3k (0:34)
1 year ago 0 + -True enough, but thats really the point. The question is, are the OSX Restore Disks "real OSX disks"? and how different are they from a Windows restore disk?
They are not "real OSX disks" in the same manner of a retail copy, as is implied in the video. True you are only suppose to install once, but say you lose your disks, your ask your friend to bring over his, oops, boned.
Now, this same situation happens in the OEM PC world as well, so I am not saying one is better than the other, but the point is they are really both very similar....
So, the point is, does Apple (or Mac) win in the restore disk argument? No, not in my eyes.
niceveritt (0:34)
1 year ago 0 + -They certainly do in my view.
You can customize installation, ie. remove MS Office trial, remove iLife if you don't need it. Remove all the gigs of printer drivers they ship with it.
You can choose installation drives, create partitions, and of course run all the disk utilities et al.
With a PC you get a restore disk. It doesn't allow you to remove all the trial BS, you have to do this once Windows is installed. And of course that leaves a bunch of crap in the registry slowing down Windows.
And god forbid should you format your drive then try to use your restore disk. It doesn't work because the disk has to check files on the Windows installation to verify you are not pirating it.
Well in my experience anyway.
The only way to get around all this, is to buy a pro computer (Dell Latitude, Vostro, etc.), buy your own Windows disk, pirate a copy (which is technically legal since you own the rights to use it), or buy a Mac.
Zenn3k (0:34)
1 year ago 0 + -Well, thats a big beyond the scope to which I was referring, but with those points I do agree. The OSX install disks are far easier to use, they are even helpful (password reset).
Emeek77 (0:34)
1 year ago +3 + -your so owned. the osx disks that comes with a mac IS A FULL install of osx weather it works on all machines or not. My windows disk in my alienware SAYS alienware on the disk. it installs there desktop etc. you have no clue. I can customize the install and install it as a regular disk. NO windows install disk is like this and you know it. your just in denial. are you so afraid of being wrong you cant see the truth.? osx in a mac is the FULL osx, on a pc its just a restore disk. i can WIOE my HD or get a new one with the mac dvd not with windows restore. And all you do is defend windows, please leave and go back to youtube were your wanted, i came here to get away from all you asshole and you follow me> how pathetic. just proves you need me, lol.
Zenn3k (0:34)
1 year ago +2 + -Thats true, it is a full install, but it is system locked and as such not a "real copy of OSX" as far as I see it. A "real copy" would be a retail copy with no restrictions. That was what I was referring to the entire time. I am not defending windows, I am simply pointing out errors as I see them. If you meant to say "full OSX install", then okay, that was not clear at the time, at least not to me.
As for the rest, I was hoping we could set some our differences aside, but you are apparently not interested or ready to do that. Thats fine. I do enjoy your videos, weather it be to see what mistakes you make, or if you make any good points, and you can be certain that when you are 100% correct, I will defend that fact that you are. Besides, it was the YouTube peeps that said you were here, if you don't want us "following you", don't tell people where you are.
Actually, I kinda like this Viddler, seems way better than YouTube
PCessna (0:34)
1 year ago +1 + -Yeah Zenn, I can't stand YouTube, The UI of Viddler and just in general is much better.

1 year ago 0 + -I agree. And it's not as if Microsoft is atually in need of profits.
ThomasTa... (1:22)
4 months ago 0 + -Why can't we even get Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere for free?
ThomasTa... (1:22)
4 months ago 0 + -Aw, screw it. Windows is below average.
Darksoul313
1 month ago 0 + -Tell me about it! It's total bullshit that when you buy a new pc, they don't even include a copy of your os. The only disc that came with my machine was Microsoft Money. When my first hard drive crashed, I was like, "Microsoft Money? What fucking good is that gonna do? I need to reinstall my operating system, dammit!" Damn, Microsoft sucks!
