Misericordia University communications majors Ann Gownley of Frackville and Sara Hite of Duryea were recently awarded a 2009 Bronze Telly Award during the 30th Annual Telly Awards competition for their production of Misericordia Universitys holiday greetings video. The almost five-minute video blends a musical sound bed with graphic elements to complement interviews with students, faculty and staff in various departments on the Misericordia University campus. The students produced the video, compiled interviews and edited the final production. Telly Awards are displayed proudly in the halls of major video production companies and television networks, said Richard Crew, Ph.D., communications department chair. We are delighted that production professionals have recognized the quality of Sarah and Anns work. The Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online file and video. The Telly Awards receives more than 13,000 entries every year from all 50 states and around the world, according to the Telly Awards website. Judges for the competition rate each entry on a 100-point scale. Entries that receive a score of 90 or higher are awarded a Silver Telly statuette, the highest honor, and entries with an average score of 70 to 89 earn a Bronze Telly statuette.
