With the big TV analog switch-off scheduled soon, the FCC has revised the rules for using the 700Mhz spectrum. Google wants to keep these airwaves open and the FCC has agreed stating that there can be no restrictions on the devices and services allowed on the network. Good stuff. Google has pledged $4.6 billion for the lot which, if they stick with their current business methodology, could mean free wireless (and good wireless) for all (maybe with a few ads thrown in.)

Elton John is also having a say (surprise, surprise) possibly as a result of seeing declining album sales for his 'Captain and the Kid'. He is calling for the ban of the Internet to "see what sort of art is produced over that span".
